Inter-Company Marketing Group (ICMG) Names
Ted Coia as 2010 Kampe Award Winner
ASHBURN, VA (March 22, 2010) - The Inter-Company Marketing Group (ICMG), the trade association devoted to fostering strategic alliances in the insurance and financial services marketplace, named Theodore N. (Ted) Coia, business development executive for IBM Insurance Outsourcing Services, as the 2010 recipient of ICMG's L. Don Kampe Lifetime Achievement Award.
The annual Kampe Award, presented at the ICMG 26th annual meeting in Tucson in January 2010, recognizes an individual who has made significant long-term contributions to the growth and development of ICMG through leadership and personal service.
The award was initially given in 2001 to Don Kampe, who is president of MS Marketing Solutions. It was subsequently named in his honor as a special recognition of his leadership of ICMG as a board member since 1987, including two terms as president.
Coia became a member of ICMG in 2000 and joined the organization’s board of directors in 2004. He served on the program committee for the 2005, 2007 and 2010 ICMG annual meetings and as program chair in 2007. He helped ICMG develop the strategic plan that has guided the organization since 2007. As 2008 president, Coia created ICMG's advisory board to recognize and draw upon the wisdom of past ICMG leaders.
Coia, who served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps, began his insurance career with Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1973 as a business analyst. He progressed to become assistant vice president of special markets, then joined Monarch Life as senior vice president and chief operating officer. He served 11 years in that role before joining Liberty Insurance Services Corporation in 1999 as senior vice president. In 2004, Coia moved to IBM as business development executive, where he continues today in a role of providing third party administration services to strategic partners in the insurance industry.
Anne Marie Faria, who is executive vice president of Health Plan Services, Tampa, and ICMG's 2009 president, commented of Coia: "He's a caring person. He is such a kindhearted soul and a good businessperson. Those two things don't always come hand in glove. ICMG is lucky to be made up of people like him."
Coia's firm, IBM Insurance Outsourcing Services, is a full-service third party administrator of individual life, health and annuity products that partners with life and health insurance companies seeking to outsource new product launches and/or blocks of business to a secure, reliable and cost-effective solution.
