Inter-Company Marketing Group (ICMG) 2011 Meeting Tackles Health Insurance

Carrier, Distribution Panels Highlight Meeting That Fosters Insurance Alliances

ASHBURN, VA (October 27, 2010) - The Inter-Company Marketing Group (ICMG), the leading association devoted to fostering strategic alliances in the insurance and financial services marketplace, will tackle the topic of health insurance under ObamaCare at its 27th annual meeting to be held Feb. 2-4, 2011 in Miami.

ICMG’s event will feature two panels on health insurance: one on carrier responses featuring executives from Aetna, Assurant Health, and Humana, and another on marketing responses to health care reform featuring AmeriLife Group, LeClair Insurance, and BenefitMall.

"We've been through a fractious national debate that resulted in landmark legislation, but changes are just beginning. Health insurance will be under the microscope more than ever in the next several years," commented Ted Williams, LLIF, president of ICMG and EVP and chief marketing officer of Security Life Insurance Co. of America.

"What happens next—with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) being a catalyst for insurers, brokers, health plans, and consumers—can and should be shaped by insurance professionals," declared Williams. "ICMG's annual meeting will help insurance leaders sort through the complexities of the issues and the decisions they’ll need to make about pricing, underwriting, compliance, distribution, marketing and product design. Plus, they'll meet potential business partners to potentially help them adapt and offer value to consumers and health plan sponsors."

The ICMG meeting features the unique member introduction session, during which every attendee "has the floor" for 30 seconds to note what types of business relationships and alliances their firms are seeking or offering.

The meeting theme - Opportunities in Change - highlights the positive stance that ICMG members are adopting to health care reform and other issues. The program includes networking, information sharing and education to help members find opportunities through strategic alliances with other members. More than 300 insurance and financial services executives are expected at the meeting at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa.

Sessions are also scheduled on cross selling and in-force marketing, and worksite marketing and voluntary benefits. Keynote speaker Curt Garbett of Red Tree Leadership talk about dealing with unexpected change through laughter, overcoming fear, and treating change as adventure, based on the international best-selling book Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson.
