MCPHERSON, KS (March 27, 2019) –  The Inter-Company Marketing Group (ICMG), a non-profit association that fosters business networking among insurance and financial services companies, raised $8,900 in support of The First Tee during its Annual Charity Golf Tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The donation will benefit The First Tee of Phoenix, Arizona. The ICMG raised the money through tournament fees, sponsorships, mulligan sales, cash donations, and a silent auction. The tournament was held in conjunction with ICMG’s Annual Conference at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, on February 4, 2019.

Sponsors of the Tournament included the following:

  • Kemper Health
  • Senior Market Sales
  • Washington National
  • Mutual of Omaha
  • GeoBlue
  • American National
  • Ameritas

An international youth development organization dedicated to impacting the lives of young people through golf, The First Tee will use the donation to fund its character-building educational programs. The First Tee bases its programs on nine core values, which were established and incorporated to represent the positive values connected with the game of golf: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment. Since its inception in 1997, The First Tee has introduced the game of golf and its values to many millions of young people in all 50 United States and many international locations.

ICMG has been a proud supporter of The First Tee since 2009, and every year ICMG donates the funds raised during its Charity Golf Tournament to the The First Tee chapter closest to the conference location.

Rich Katz, ICMG Golf Tournament Chair and ICMG Board member spoke to ICMG’s long-standing relationship with The First Tee. “ICMG is honored to support The First Tee based on their work with young people. The way The First Tee gives a sound basis for life through learning programs and incorporation of their nine core values has definitely been an influencing factor in our organization’s decision to support them for so many years,” Katz said. “Our participation at the local level helps the local chapters provide programming to get the nine values taught through the game of golf early on, helping prepare students to grow up and become valuable members of society.”
